Online dating with Rush, Rick and contraceptives.

I write ads. I write dating profiles based on ad techniques. I also write the only dating blog about men, women and marketing.

My blogs are often inspired by stories that move me. For instance, it’s bad enough that Rush Limbaugh called a woman a slut, but I’m shocked that he’s allowed to call some poor woman “wife” on a daily basis. As such, I thought I’d do a blog about men, women and words that cross a line. However, before I could begin, I became entranced by the controversy of Rick Santorum (pictured here in the pink shirt and sweater vest with the big red bows on either side of him) and his war on pornography.

Somehow though, from trashy terminology to terminating trash, I found one perfect, all-encompassing theme: “hitting below the belt”.  Enjoy!

Talk about killjoy (or joystick).

Hub pages list 10 things that women should never say to a man. Among them, the questions “Do you think she’s pretty” and “Which outfit do you like better”. However, I have to say that the surest way to bring down a room, among other things, are the following four words, “We need to talk.”   Even I would shrink from that conversation and I’m usually all for  communication and intercourse between people.

What gets your knickers in a knot?

Esquire Magazine published “How to get a woman angry in 10 words or less”. Here are some highlights:

Why didn’t you tell me your sister was so gorgeous?

Were you saying something?

Your mustache tickles.

Anniversary?.

I’m so angry right now that all I can say is, “nothing’s wrong” and I’m “fine”.

Especially for Rush and Rick.

Given the theme of this week’s blog, I couldn’t sign off without an ad about contraception. Better still, it’s a banned ad, which is “nuts”.  It’s not offensive at all.

Here are some great print ads too. What I love about all these ads is that they don’t shy away from what they are. There’s no mistaking what the products are about. One of the biggest mistakes people make when writing their own personal ads is that they’re vague about who they are. As such, they end up sounding like everyone else. It’s a turn off.

Smack That!!! (um…whatever that means)

Though I’ve had a variety of partners who worked with me on countless different ads, I’ve never had the intense pleasure and satisfaction of working on so meaty a subject. How exciting it would have been to have done these two featured ads.

Think profile writing is hard?

If you find that writing an online dating profile is too hard, don’t worry. I can soften the blow. I write online dating profiles that are more than just well-written, they’re also highly-strategic (that’s the difference between a writer and an ad writer). Every word is deliberate, every segue carefully considered. In addition, I write them using a client’s very own anecdotes and expressions so that they’re true to the person I represent. In fact, clients alway say, “That really sounds like me!”.

See the difference ad writing (versus regular writing) makes – check out my samples of online dating profiles and LinkedIn profiles. Better still, get started by completing the online personality quiz. It’s the first step to a great online dating profile. The second step is to hire me.
