Embarrassed about online dating?

A lot of first-time online daters can be intimated by having to post a picture of themselves on a dating site. Besides the fact that a lot of people think they’re not photogenic, there’s also the concern that they’ll be seen, or “caught” rather, by people they know. But remember, if someone you know sees you online, it’s because they too are online. There’s no shame in it.

Online dating has become a  norm.  It’s as common as meeting new friends in a bar, a party or at a social gathering.

So post a photo and be proud of yourself for being open to something new!  If you’re willing to embrace change and tackle your discomfort, then good on you. I’m especially impressed when older men and women try this new territority.  As someone who’s older myself, I know how easy it is to stay stuck in the safe cocoon of what’s familiar.

So take comfort in the fact that (prepare for the pun…) virtually every single man and woman is doing it, and pat yourself on the back for tackling something that might make you a little uncomfortable.
