It’s true that singles often have a cut off “ideal age” when they do searches dating sites. However, generally speaking, people tend to be curious about who’s out there and, if someone is attracted to your photo and profile, they’ll contact you.
I’ve heard that men search for younger women. I’m not convinced. I’ve known many men, especially those in the boomer ages, who really enjoy the company of women their own age and they feel more comfortable with them. Many of these guys are not the stereoptypes of yesteryear.
Plus, I can attest from being in the online dating industry that women themselves often discriminate. I’ve been surprised by how many single women 50+ are looking for younger men because they assume them to be more vibrant and more suited to their “energy”. It’s beyond me why anyone would let age dictate his or her decisions.
My suggestion is to keep your minds and your searches open. At certain stages in life, age is important given that it can affect whether or not you and your partner can have children. If you don’t want kids then you aren’t restricted so why limit yourself.
