I read a number of online dating profiles for men today on Plenty of Fish. There’s a section that let’s you throw ideas around for a first date. A lot of the dating profiles talked about meeting for coffee.
However, a good number suggested activities like heading out on a scenic motorcycle ride or a hike on some nearby mountain.
On one hand, I think it’s commendable for a guy to think of something other than the typical coffee interview. On the other hand, while he’s getting creative, a man might want to put himself in a woman’s shoes (no, not literally).
Fact is, unless she’s a virgin cheerleader who’s never seen “Scream”, there’s little chance that an emotionally-healthy female will want to risk being with you on an isolated highway or, worse, in a deep dark forest.
If she does, then beware – she has the kind of trusting nature associated to low self-esteem and poor boundaries, which can make her invite all kinds of drama.
The #1 tip for that first date.
The biggest tip I can give you is to be safety-minded. If you’re a woman, do not go into a car with a man for a least a few dates. If you’re a man, be mindful of the leap of faith women take when going offline.
Pick public places like an aquarium or a museum. For one, they aren’t the typical coffee dates. Second, they give you plenty to discuss. Third, and most important, they’re public.
