More and more boomers find themselves divorced and single again. As such, more single men and women 50+ are online dating. Thanks to the proliferation of dating sites and the tendency for boomers to be a fairly progressive group, it’s a great time to be a single boomer.
Online dating offers such a welcoming environment. You don’t need to get dressed up and go into a bar where you feel like the chaperone. Nor do you have to take up bingo or feed pigeons to meet people your age (I’m kidding!). All you have to do is post a few photos and a profile then relax at your computer as you comb through hundreds of potential soul mates – all there for the same reason you are.
It can be a daunting process at first. You can feel really cheesy as you write about yourself and your wish list (again, I suggest hiring me!). But, once you get over the initial jitters and find yourself in like-minded company, it’s heartening. What’s also great is that you don’t have to apologize for your age. After all, other boomers are out there looking for you too.
So if you’re newly single, don’t despair. With the breadth that Internet dating can cover, the world is open to you. Pick general sites, senior sites and sites that cater to various interests such as pets, fitness or religion. Make the rounds and have fun.
