Dennis, Kim Jong and the things we do for love.

worst-celebrity-tattoos-30-pics_24We don’t hate you Dennis. You’re just following your heart.

Elton John and Chris Brown are buds. Charlie Sheen has taken Lindsay Lohan under his wing. And now, Dennis Rodman has become fast friends with Kim Jong Un. You’d think he’d be through with power-hungry dictators after Madonna and yet there he is calling Kim Jong a great guy. Oops, I mean an “awesome” guy. Sorry, didn’t mean to be dismissive.

What’s more intriguing – though he has the critical faculties of a sea urchin, his name was nonetheless written in the same sentence as “American intelligence”.

What’s truly heartwarming is that his loyalty for his BBF of a few days inspired him to end an interview with George Stephanopoulos with “Don’t hate me”. Don’t worry Rod, speaking for myself, I can assure you that I found you loathsome long before your alliance with a human rights violator. The image of you in bright blue eye shadow and a tiger dress will haunt me forever.

On that note, how is it that you’ve become friends with a man who’s against freedom of expression?

Given the newsworthiness of their friendship, Dennis and Kim Jong have inspired this blog. The subject? Love against all odds, of course.

Should love be unconditional?

I found a Psychology Today article on unconditional love. Ultimately it tells us that true love isn’t entirely unconditional but it does have aspects that enable us to pursue it despite unfavorable external circumstances.

This is good news, at least for Rodman. Poor guy is getting so much flak for partying with a man who is against freedom of expression, movement, religion and the press, not to mention being in favor of public executions, forced abortions…oh boy I’m pooped and I’m only partly through it all.

Cupidity

I happened upon an entertaining, but accurate blog that lists the 50 stupid things we do for love. It’s a great list and it comes from a book with a title that I wish I had thought of: Cupidity by Hayley and Michael DiMarco.

I conducted an informal poll on my Facebook page (would love to see you there!) asking friends “what’s the dumbest thing you’ve done for love”. Mainly, people have left homes, families and friends, and moved to whole other cities – even countries – for love. Two of those loves turned out to be everlasting (which bodes well for our budding bromance). One has two great boys to show for it too!

As for me, I ran after a boy in schoolyard while holding a candy that said “Kiss Me” on it.

On a final note

I write this dating blog mainly to entertain myself (and you, I hope). However, what I do take very seriously is writing online dating profiles (in addition to LinkedIn and adoption profiles).

So, if you have difficulty describing yourself, then I encourage you to hire me. I take great pains to use your words and anecdotes so that you end up with a profile that truly sounds like you.

The process begins with a personality questionnaire to reveal your unique stories and expressions. From there, I pick the best ones and strategically place them throughout your profile so that it’s engaging from start to finish.

Check out my online dating profile samples and see for yourself. Better yet, get started on the personality questionnaire.
