How to Write a Dating Profile: Tips 4 and 5.

At the start of every week, I critique two excerpts from random dating profiles that I’ve found on various sites.

At the end of every week I post a funny dating blog that, nonetheless, offers solid advice on how to write a dating profile based on marketing techniques. Because it’s entertaining, both singles and couples can enjoy the read.

So for a concise blog specific to online dating profiles, I hope you enjoy this one. For broader marketing techniques in a blog that everyone can enjoy, keep a watch out for the blog I post on Fridays.

How to write a dating profile, tip 4:

Hi and thanx for looking any profile. I’m looking for some one special to go out with and have fun with and see what happens from there. Lifes too short to spend it alone when theres so much more to do together. I’m a fun loving nice person thats very sweet ive been told. I’m a very sensitive passionate person who is very faithful and caring but at the same time a bit wild in a good way.

“Hi and thanks” is not an opener that surprises and engages you. If your picture caught someone’s attention then use that to your advantage by stating a fact or anecdote that’ll make people want to eagerly read on.  Also, what does someone “special” mean?  Special as in gifted, special as a euphenysm for challenged? Instead, describe the qualities you’re looking for in a match and raise the bar. Expect more than just someone to have fun with just because there’s more to do together. As for life is short – really? How do you know? Never rely on cliches. What’s “wild”, but in a good way? Oh wow, that needs to be explained. Finally, check spelling and grammar.

How to write a dating profile, tip 5:

Having been an enterpeneur most of my life, I should be used to promoting my own product. But, when it comes to talking about myself, it is proving to be more difficult than i thought. The problem with only mentioning my good points is, that it feels like I am selling myself. Because I only tell the truth, I feel I need to mention the good and the not so good.

Ugh, by the time I get to the second sentence, I’m bored. This is not a strong opener. It rambles on. In addition, a dating profile isn’t the place for the “not so good”. Be yourself and be accurate, but put your best points forward. I’ve written enough online dating profiles to know that everyone has more than enough good points to on which they can market themselves.

For more tips on how to write a great online dating profile, check out the online dating samples of my work and be sure to have a look at this blog early next week. Also, do feel free to send me your profile and I’ll critique an excerpt from it.

If you want to start crafting a better profile right now, get started on uncovering some of your unique traits by completing the personality quiz. It costs nothing to do, but it’s an important first step in writing an online dating profile that stands out. Once you’ve completed it, you can incorporate some the best answers into your dating profile, or you can hire me to do it. I’m trained to know what to pick and where to put it.

Next:  Don’t miss the more entertaining blog that I post at the end of the week. It provides both self-marketing advice and laughs for singles and couples alike.

If you like the blogs, then you’ll like the tweets. Would also love to see you on Facebook.
