There’s really nothing like an online dating profile that makes you sleepy. I found one today on Plenty of Fish that had a very common – and very boring – online dating profile writing mistake.

Just looking for someone to go out and have fun with and see what happens. Yes I’m interested in a relationship but getting to know someone and see if there is chemistry comes first. Even serious relationships have to start somewhere. Worst case is I make a new friend to hang out with.
My critique.
Anyone over the age of 14 years old knows that a serious relationship isn’t like making coffee – it doesn’t happen in an instant. So spare us all the pontification and spend a little time asking yourself if perhaps you’re not ready. When I read dating profiles with this much fine print, all I’m reading is “I’m scared, don’t push me, stop, don’t come any closer – and, if you do come closer, you better get my permission every step of the way”.
Good lord, if you’re going to subscribe to a dating site filled with people looking for relationships then be prepared to face the possibility that you’ll meet people who want a relationship! You don’t need to go on and on about how slowly it needs to happen. Just enjoy it. If you find yourself with someone going too fast, then deal with it then.
